Paint correction that gives the reflection back

David Morse polishes swirls, haze and wash marring out of your clear coat himself, so the paint on your car shows the Florida sky cleanly again.

What are swirls and haze, really?

Swirls are fine scratches in the clear coat, the top layer of your paint. Most come from washing: a gritty mitt, a dirty towel, an automatic wash with spinning brushes. In direct sun they spread into circles and spider webs, and when they throw rainbow arcs of light they get called holograms. Haze is the same damage seen from farther back, a dull cast that flattens the color.

Palm Beach County is hard on clear coat. Salt air, strong UV and sun-baked water spots add to the damage a car collects between washes, and a dark finish in Boynton Beach or Boca Raton shows every line. Paint correction levels that surface until it is smooth again. It removes the defect instead of filling it, which is why the shine holds up under a flashlight and in full sun.

Single-stage or multi-step polishing?

Single-stage correction uses one polish on one pad to clear light marring and bring the gloss back. It suits paint with lighter defects, and it often makes sense because it takes off the least clear coat. Heavier swirls, deeper scratches and years of automatic washes call for a cutting stage first, followed by a finer polish to refine the finish.

Which one your car gets depends on the paint, not on a preset plan. Hard clear coat resists the polish and takes more work. Soft clear coat cuts quickly and marks easily, so it needs a gentler pad and a lighter hand. David tests a small section first, reads what the paint does, and chooses the pad and polish from that. Since he is the only one working on your car, the person who judged the paint is the person who corrects it.

How is the paint inspected before a coating?

A coating locks in whatever is under it, swirls included, so the inspection comes before anything is sealed. David goes over each panel under strong, direct light, from several angles, because swirls vanish when you look from the wrong direction and ordinary garage lighting hides what the sun will show on the first drive.

If a panel still shows haze, it gets another pass before it moves on. When the paint is clean, protection follows: a ceramic coating from System-X, where Reflect is a certified installer, or from CeramicPro or IGL, that can last up to five years against UV and salt air. The correction is what lets the coating look like glass instead of sealing in the old damage.

David Morse owns and runs Reflect himself, solo since 2019, and no crew is dispatched in his place. He works at your home or at his shop, by appointment, for customers in Delray Beach, Lake Worth and across Palm Beach County. Call or text (561) 827-8663 with the year, make and model, and he can tell you what your paint needs.
